I am so sorry to hear about Gators passing. My deepest sympathies to you Mary, Brad, Heidi & family. What can you say about a guy whose heart was as big as an ocean. Gator deeply loved & cared about everyone in his life. He was the glue that held the Cosmos Bike Club together in its later years. Even after it disbanded and everyone moved on and went there seperate ways in life, he made the effort to stay in contact & kept the lines of communication open on the Cosmos Sons & Daughters Facebook page. I remember the first time I met Gator back in 1973. It was at my then, soon to be brother in laws, graduation party. Gator often teased me about that day & how innocent I looked sitting there on the floor of the living room. But then he was always quick to add to the story about how much looks can be deceiving. We laughed about that often. I’m so grateful to have known him over the last 50 years. We shared alot of great times together & one very difficult time that remains in our hearts forever. Gator was like a brother to me & we shared the same sense of humor. I will miss him stopping by to visit if I happened to be outside when he drove by. Those visits could get quite lengthy, but it was time well spent. Gator had an infectious laugh, the biggest smile & the kindest heart that I have ever known. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. So until we meet again; Fly High Free Bird because Tuesdays Gone With The Wind. Give everyone up there a big hug from me! Rest in Peace my friend.

I didn’t get to talk to Gator often but I always enjoyed it when I did. He always had a big smile and warm handshake, and I always looked forward to seeing him somewhere. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to Mary and all of Mark’s family and friends.

My sweet Mary, you know I love you. I met Gator when we first opened the store in Cosmos and he was a senior in high school. I gave Baby Huey his nickname and Gator already had his. I called him my friend, but he was everyone’s friend and l remember hearing many times how he had told Cosmos people when asked about that new Scharmer in town, that I was a good guy and that bonded us for life. He truly was a friend to everyone he met. As Susie says, he was a big teddy bear. Big and sometimes mean looking with a full beard, but with a heart of gold. A lifetime friend that I even called on Friday afternoon to give him a hard time and found out from Mary his condition in the St Cloud hospital. Memories of him will always make us smile

Dearest Mary~ I am so very sorry about your loss of Gator. I only met him a handful of times, first at your wedding reception, and then again in Buffalo Lake a few times when he’d be there for either elevator meetings or ethanol meetings…I don’t remember which it was. He was always so friendly and seemed to be a happy go lucky guy! When I’d ask about you he always spoke of you with such pride; You were his joy! You and I have been friends since kindergarten, and I want to be here for you if there’s anything you need or anything I can do to help you…thats what friends do! In the meantime, I will be praying for peace and comfort for you in the days and weeks ahead. You will be in my thoughts, in my prayers, and in my heart~ we know where Gator is. He’s your Guardian Angel now, watching you from up above. God welcomed him with open arms. Love you Mary~ Jo

Until I met Gator I had know idea just how accepting and loving a complete stranger could be. My first meeting was when Kevin and I came back to Cosmos to get married all those years ago. You felt right away as if you had known him your entire life .Through the years that never changed and grew to a truly deep friendship that I am going to miss. I thank God to have blessed my life with him and my heart breaks for Mary , brad and the rest of the family. Ride with the wind at your back forever in the sunshine till we meet on that highway in the sky .
