Janet D. Brelje, age 92, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at her home.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 9:30-11:00 A.M., one and a half hours prior to the service at the church.
Memorials preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Obituary
Janet Delphine (Maass) Von Der Brelje was born on November 9, 1930, in Sumter Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Edwin and Adele (Bussler) Maass. Janet was baptized as an infant on November 30, 1930, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on June 11, 1944, both by Reverend Heinrich Weerts, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Her confirmation verse was Revelations 3:11. Janet received her education at the New Auburn Country School in New Auburn, Minnesota.
On August 26, 1950, Janet was united in marriage to Wilbert Arthur Von Der Brelje by Reverend Reinhard Koepp at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. Janet and Wilbert made their home on the family farm, west of Glencoe, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Kerry and Jeffrey. The couple shared 60 years of marriage until Wilbert’s passing in March of 2011.
Janet enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and spending time baking in the kitchen. Janet was a collector, most specifically coins and stamps. Janet had a love of old-time music and would listen to it any chance she could get. Her favorite show on television was The Wheel of Fortune. Janet truly cherished time spent with family and friends.
Janet passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at her home in Glencoe at the age of 92.

Sisters-in-law, Ruth Spandl of Browerville, MN, Shirley Brelje of Hutchinson, MN, Ilo Maass of Brownton, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives, and Friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her Husband, Wilbert Brelje; Parents, Edwin and Adele Maass; Uncle, Elmer (Myrtle) Maass; Brother, Lowell Maass; Sister, Dianne Maass; Brother-in-law, Gary Waller; Sister-in-law, Mabel Brelje; Brothers-in-law, Donald (Dorothy) Brelje, Howard Brelje, and John Spandl.
