Lila Sylvia Oelfke

Obituary

Lila Sylvia Oelfke was born on April 26, 1934, in Stewart, Minnesota. She was the daughter of  William and Sylvia (Schultz) Wegner. Lila was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth both at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She received her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1952.

Lila was employed at 3M in Hutchinson doing secretarial work. On July 9, 1955, Lila was united in marriage to Richard Oelfke, the love of her life, by Rev. Kirsch at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Lila and Richard made their home on the family farm in Hamburg, Minnesota until Richard went into the Service. After he was honorably discharged, they returned to the farm and she adjusted to being a farm wife. She helped with farm work and was a wonderful wife and mother. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Paula, Steven, and Beth. They shared over 65 years of marriage until the passing of Richard on May 9, 2021.

Lila was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, serving many years on the alter guild.

Lila enjoyed shopping, reading, word find books, trying new recipes, watching, and feeding the birds. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

Lila passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Glencoe Regional Health in Glencoe, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, 7 days.
