Service Information

Gary R. Weirauch, age 80, of Darwin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at his home.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Hantge Funeral Chapel in Darwin, with interment in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, Minnesota.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

Obituary

Gary Robert Weirauch was born on April 14, 1943, in Litchfield, Minnesota. He was the son of Robert and Betty (Gustafson) Weirauch. Gary was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He received his education in Kimball, Minnesota, and was a graduate with the Kimball High School class of 1961.

Gary entered active military service in the United States Air Force on September 19, 1962, in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served his country during Vietnam Era and Peace Time. He received an Honorable Discharge on November 30, 1983, at Minot, North Dakota, and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After Gary retired from the Air Force, he worked for Riebe Sod in Darwin, did odd jobs and drove truck. Gary was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Gary enjoyed playing cards, karaoke, and square dancing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Gary passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at his home in Darwin, Minnesota, at the age of 80 years.

Gary is survived by his:
Son, Robert Weirauch and his fiancée, Paula Merrill of Rumney, NH;
Daughter, Jenny Voight and her husband, Don of Glencoe, MN;
Grandchildren, Michael Ackland and his fiancée, Samantha Cruz,
Emily Rothmeier and her husband, Tyler;
Great-grandchildren, Destiny, Aurora, Brooklyn Smith, Saveah Rothmeier;
Siblings, Bonnie Vernon of Columbia Heights, MN,
Cindy Hendrickson of Litchfield, MN,
Rick Weirauch and his wife, Margaret of Anoka, MN,
Jody Pallies and her husband, Dave of Benson, MN,
Judy Moen and her husband, Jim of Litchfield, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his Parents, Robert and Betty Weirauch; Son, Paul Weirauch; Grandson, Dustin Weirauch.

    My deepest sympathy to the Weirauch family. My brother was a friend of Gary’s in high school, so I remember him coming to the farm occasionally to hang out and ride horse. RIP.
