Service Information

Ray “Junior” Bryant, age 93, of Hutchinson passed away on Sunday, February 7th, 2016, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.

A Graveside Service will be Saturday, February 13th at 3:00 P.M at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson. Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Hutchinson VFW Post #906.

Obituary

Ray Bryant was born on November 20, 1922, in Donnybrook, North Dakota. He was the son of Ray and Bessie (Tarr) Bryant. He received his education in Stanley, North Dakota.

Ray entered active military service in the United States Army on November 30, 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, and served his country during World War II. He received an Honorable Discharge on January 13, 1947, at Fort Lewis, in rural Tacoma, Washington.

On March 1, 1954, Ray was united in marriage to Anna Mae Olsen at the Justice of the Peace in Montana. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Cyndy. Ray and Anna moved to Hutchinson in 1956, from North Dakota. They shared 61 years of marriage.

In addition to farming, Ray was also a bartender in Kenmare, North Dakota and worked for Oak Grove Dairy. In August of 1977, Ray began working for Hutchinson Technology, Inc. (HTI) in Hutchinson, as a custodian. Ray retired in May of 1988.

Ray enjoyed playing cribbage and cards, canning and tending to his gardens. He also enjoyed woodworking and collecting and making farm toys from wood. Ray loved to sit outside and watch nature with a beverage in hand. He especially cherished spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

When Ray needed assistance with his daily care he became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, on March 6, 2015. He passed away there on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the age of 93 years.

Wife, Anna Mae Bryant of Hutchinson, MN;
Daughter, Cyndy Schmidt and her husband, Loren of Darwin, MN;
Grandchildren, Joshua Schmidt and his wife, Tina of Hutchinson, MN,
Jason Schmidt of Darwin, MN;
Great Grandchildren, Olivia and Layton Schmidt;
Step- Great Grandson, Tarrell Kurtz;
Sister, Joy Jenkins of OR;
Many Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ray is preceded in death by his Parents, Ray and Bessie Bryant; Brothers, Foster Bryant, Merlin Bryant and his wife, Beverly, Milton Bryant; Sisters, Dorothy Eckert and her husband, Tracy, Burl Jungberg and her husband, Albert, Gayle Renner and her husband, Cornelious, Esther Homiston and her husband, Lloyd; Brother-In-Law, Elwood Jenkins.
