Service Information

Adeline C. Mortenson, age 93, of Fairfax passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Buffalo Lake Heath Care Center.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Prayer Service will be at 4:00 P.M. 

Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. She has requested no flowers be sent.

Obituary

Adeline Catherine Mortenson was born on April 15, 1931, in St. Leo, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Edmund and Rose (Eischens) Mamer. Adeline was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo. She received her education in Canby, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Canby High School Class of 1949.

On June 3, 1957, Adeline was united in marriage to Russell Mortenson at St. Leo Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple resided in Madison, Ortonville, Westbrook, Ada and Fairfax, Minnesota. Adeline and Russell were blessed with four children, Cynthia, Greg, Laurie and Bruce. She was a day care owner for more than 35 years, retiring in 2011. Adeline and Russell shared 32 years of marriage when Russell passed away on January 20, 1990.

Adeline was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Adeline enjoyed word search and playing Bingo. She cherished the time she spent with her grandson, Eric and friends.

When she needed assistance with her care, Adeline became a resident of the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center on February 12, 2024, and passed away there on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the age of 93 years. Blessed be her memory.

Adeline is survived by her:
Children,         Cynthia Mortenson and her special friend, Silver Laar of TN,
                        Greg Mortenson of Baudette, MN, and
                        Laurie Mortenson of Colorado Springs, CO;
Grandchildren, Chris (Jamey) Fahey, Eric (Jessica) Fahey, Tiffany (Andrew) Sass;
7 Great-grandchildren:
Brother, Blaine Mamer of Minneapolis, MN;
Daughter-in-law, Wendy Mortenson;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Adeline was preceded in death by her Parents, Edmund and Rose Mamer; Husband, Russell Mortenson; Son, Bruce Mortenson; Grandson, Carl Mortenson; Sister, Rosella and Larry Hoyer; Brothers, Edwin Mamer, Eugene Mamer, Delmar Mamer; In-laws, Irene and Merle Mamer, Shirley, Ruth and Donna.
