Service Information
Barbara J. Berg, age 83, of Norwood Young America, formerly of Gaylord, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Funeral Service will be Friday, July 31st, 11:00 A.M. at Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church, Sibley Township, Sibley County, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, July 31st, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
Obituary
Barbara Jean (Kessler) Berg was born on March 6, 1932, in St. Peter, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Heyn) Kessler. Barbara was baptized as an infant in April of 1932, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 19, 1946, both at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Minnesota. She received her education in St. Peter and was a 1950 graduate of the St. Peter High School. She was employed at the St. Peter State Hospital for one year as a nurse’s aide.
On September 2, 1951, Barbara was united in marriage to Donald Berg at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. After their marriage, the couple farmed until 1980 on the family homestead in Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. In 1986, they moved into Gaylord. Barbara and Donald were blessed with three daughters. They shared 45 years of marriage before Donald passed away on December 29, 1996. In 2007, Barbara moved to Norwood Young America.
Barbara was a member of Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church.
Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo, watching the Minnesota Twins, and her love of animals, especially dogs. She loved spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Barbara became a resident of the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine on January 15, 2015, and passed away there on Monday, July 27, 2015, at the age of 83 years. Blessed be her memory.

Gail Bartush and her husband, Scott of Norwood Young America, MN, and
Susan Willems and her husband, Paul of Norwood Young America, MN;
7 Grandchildren, Rachel (David) Krenz, Nicole Engel, Jacob (Gina) Bartush, Ryan Bartush, Tim (Cara) Willems, Lindsay Willems and special friend, Chet Schug, and Michael Willems and special friend, Chelsea Wickenhauser;
Great-Grandchildren, Kylie Krenz, Levi Krenz, Lydia Bartush, Benjamin Willems, Weston Willems;
Niece, Nephew, other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Clara Kessler; Husband, Donald Berg; Brother, Roger Kessler; Sisters, Iris Kessler, Arline Gross; Twin Sister, Beverly Kessler.
