Service Information
Bernice Raeth, age 94, of Winthrop passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop.
Memorial Service will be Tuesday, June 30th, 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials preferred to Church Missions or Camp Courage.
Obituary
Helen Bernice Marcella (Lundholm) Raeth was born on March 9, 1921, in Alfsborg Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Axel and Hilda (Wram) Lundholm. Bernice was baptized as an infant on May 9, 1921, by Pastor A.F. Lundquist and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 5, 1935, by Pastor Ernest Martell, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Bernice received her education at District #72 Country School and was a 1939 graduate of the Winthrop High School.
On October 30, 1943, Bernice was united in marriage to Edwin Raeth at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop by Reverend O.E. Olman. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Transit Township. After they retired, they moved into Winthrop and later to Hutchinson for a short time before moving back to Winthrop. Bernice was very kind and pleasant person. They were blessed with two sons. Bernice and Edwin shared 71 years of marriage.
Bernice was a former member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop since 1943. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, Young at Heart and the Winthrop Senior Citizens Club.
Bernice especially liked living on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and traveling. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Bernice became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop on April 9, 2015, and passed away there on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the age of 94 years. Blessed be her memory.

Husband, Edwin Raeth of Winthrop, MN;
Son, Gary “Lee” Raeth and his wife, Juli of Backus, MN;
3 Grandchildren;
6 Great-Grandchildren;
Sister, Marjorie Block of Hutchinson, MN;
Brother, Chester Lundholm and his wife, Roween of New Ulm, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her Parents, Axel and Hilda Lundholm; Son, James Raeth; and Brother-In-Law, Lowell Block.
