Service Information
Marvin E. Gelle, age 88, of Sartell, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 27, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Cosmos, Minnesota.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials preferred to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Parkinson’s Foundation Minnesota & Dakota’s Chapter.
Obituary
Marvin Emil Gelle was born on January 18, 1937, in Maple Grove, Minnesota. He was the son of Richard and Lillie (Lange) Gelle. Marvin was baptized as an infant on February 14, 1937, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 31, 1951, both at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove. He received his GED.
Marvin entered active military service in the United States Air National Guard 133rd Air Base Squadron in February 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was released from active duty and transferred to the Air National Guard on August 31, 1962, achieving the rank of Airman Second Class.
On September 14, 1963, Marvin was united in marriage to Gloria Ness at Providence Valley Lutheran Church in rural Dawson, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Daniel, Tod, Holly and Meg. Marvin and Gloria farmed dairy cattle and crops in rural Cosmos, Danielson Township, Minnesota, for 40 years. They later moved to Hutchinson, Osakis, and St. Joseph before making their home in Sartell, Minnesota. Marvin and Gloria shared 61 years of marriage.
Marvin was employed at Gold Country Seed Company in Hutchinson, and Form-A-Feed in Stewart, Minnesota. Marvin was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, serving on the church council and as a Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Litchfield Male Chorus, Lion’s Club, the National Farmer’s Organization, and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Marvin enjoyed good food, bowling, racquetball, running, biking, playing softball and coaching peewee softball. He especially loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Marvin cherished time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Marvin passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 88 years.

Grandchildren, Grace Halvorson, Aidan Halvorson, Isaac Halvorson, Ty Tschudi, Peyten Tschudi;
Sister, Lois Michael of Eden Prairie, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by his Parents, Richard and Lillie Gelle; Grandson, Isaiah Halvorson; Siblings, Norma (Donald) Riebe, Cecil (Myrtle) Gelle; Nephew, Dennis Riebe; Parents-in-law, William and Claribel Ness; Brother-in-law, Wayne Ness.
