Obituary
Barbara Ann Soregaroli, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, whose legacy of love, laughter, and strong family values will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
“Barb” was born on May 26, 1941, in Story City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Orville and Luella (Haugland) Madson. On September 22, 1963, Barb was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Soregaroli at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, IA. This marriage was blessed with three children: Laurie, Lana, and David. They shared 53 years of marriage before Bob’s passing on October 6, 2016.
Barb devoted her life to her family. Her greatest pride was raising her children and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She believed deeply in putting family first and had a habit of checking in—just to make sure you were doing okay or to share the current gas price.
At home in Hutchinson, Barb enjoyed tending to her flowers, chatting over coffee with friends, and finding treasures at the local garage sales. During her winters in Weslaco, Texas, she thrived as a proud “Winter Texan,” active in the Southern Comfort community—volunteering and participating in activities like bocce ball, card games, concerts, and Sunday church. Barb loved the sunshine, piña coladas, and a good sit outdoors by the pool.
She was known for her humor and gentle sass. When someone was being a wise guy, she’d raise and wave her pinky—her signature move—instead of her middle finger. She could barely hear (and stubbornly refused a hearing aid), but that never stopped her from staying connected, laughing loudly, or making others feel loved.
Barb’s proudest titles were “Grandma” and “Great-Grandma.” She adored playing on the floor with her little ones—crawling around with toy cars and puzzles, always ready with a sweet treat in hand to spoil them.
Her family will carry on her values of love and humor. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Barb is survived by her children: Laurie Templin of Glencoe, MN; Lana Schmidt of Hutchinson, MN; and David Soregaroli and his wife Sarah of Madisonville, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew Schmidt (Taylor), Shelby Underwood (Thomas), Zachary Templin, Tyler Templin, and Samuel Soregaroli; and her great-grandchildren: Elijah Underwood, Walker Schmidt, and Eleanor Underwood.
Also surviving are her siblings: Larry Madson and his wife Connie of Boone, IA; Sharon Christenson of Webster City, IA; Paul Madson and his wife Darlene of Ames, IA; and Linda Reed and her husband Tom of Fort Mill, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Soregaroli; her parents, Orville and Luella Madson; her son-in-law, Lyle Schmidt; and her brother-in-law, John Christenson.
