Obituary
Warren Roger Mathwig was born on May 18, 1950, in Gaylord, MN, to Ernest and Dorothy (Hoppe) Mathwig. He was baptized in the faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle and later confirmed on June 7, 1964. Warren received his education in Arlington, MN, and was a graduate of the Arlington High School Class of 1968. Later in life, Warren furthered his education by attending Mankato Technical College and graduating with an Associate Degree in Accounting.
Warren was married to Connie Jean Tuchtenhagen from 1974 to 1990. They were blessed with five children: Tammera, Charalette, Teresa, Brian, and Kimberly.
Warren was raised on the family farm and then resided on a farm just a few miles down the road. He continued to farm through his young adult years. Warren held other various occupations throughout his life, including jailer for Sibley County, working for the local AMPI Co-op, and semi-truck driver. Warren also spent time in his later years after retirement from truck driving, helping out at the McLeod County Food Shelf and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Warren had a strong connection to faith, family, and the outdoors. His faith was strengthened through regular church attendance and overcoming the obstacles he endured throughout his lifetime. He spent many years swimming, fishing, deer hunting, and camping out at the family pond with his parents, siblings, and family. He shared his passion for fishing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He loved taking everyone out on the boat to fish, baiting the hook, cleaning the fish, and making his famous homemade tartar sauce. He was proud of his children and their accomplishments and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He avidly read books, enjoyed watching western movies, especially those that included John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, tinkering in one garage or another, and was a jack of all trades. If you needed something, Warren always volunteered to help or took charge and did what needed to be done. Warren was notorious for saying, “Just holler if you need help”.
Although his passing was sudden and unexpected, many cherished memories will remain with us and help to bring us peace. Blessed be his memory.
