Obituary
Greg Daryl Kuphal was born on March 13, 1964 in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of Marvin M. and Janice F. (Monson) Kuphal. Greg was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. He received his education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School class of 1982.
Greg had a deep passion for life’s simple joys. Whether he was fine-tuning his yard to perfection, cheering on his favorite football team every Sunday, or working under the hood of a car, he demonstrated an impressive knowledge of classic cars- and he loved to share it! Greg found meaning and joy in the everyday. Above all, Greg’s heart belonged to his family. Greg also treasured card games with his parents and siblings, and always looked forward to good laughs and great company with his group of friends, known as “The Grumpy Old Men.”
He cherished the time he spent with his three children, proudly watching them grow and succeed. He never missed an opportunity to tell his children how proud of them he was, and never let a conversation end without reminding them, “I love you biggie much.” His grandchildren brought him endless joy, and he adored every moment he shared with them.
Greg passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the age of 61 years. Throughout his life, Greg faced many health challenges, but he met each one with remarkable courage, resilience, and an infectious spirit that uplifted everyone around him—especially his devoted medical team, who were often met with his quick wit and spunky charm. Greg’s strength, love, and humor leave a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Greg is survived by his children, Kevin Kuphal and his wife, Crystal of Alcester, SD, Tracy Kuphal-Strand of Champlin, MN, and Tim Kuphal and his wife, Jenna of Crooks, SD; Grandchildren, Jordyn, Lucas and Lane Kuphal, Keaton and Krosby Strand, and Kaidyn and Karson Kuphal; siblings, Barb Harbarth of Gaylord, MN, Betty Kuphal and her partner, Linda Hallen of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Gary Kuphal and his wife, Carol of LaCrescent, MN; nieces and nephews as well as several extended family members and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin Sr. and Esther Kuphal, John Arnold and Florence Monson; parents, Marvin and Janice Kuphal; and brother in-law, Larry Harbarth.
