Maxine I. Heinrichs

Obituary

Maxine Ida (Koster) Heinrichs was born on March 30, 1924, at home in Breda, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Matilda (Grabner) Koster. Maxine was baptized as an infant and received her first communion as a youth at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda, Iowa. She received her education at the St. Bernard Catholic Church School and graduated with the class of 1942.

On June 22, 1948, Maxine was united in marriage to Marvin Hilbert Heinrichs at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda, IA. Maxine and Marvin shared 3 days shy of 74 years of married life together, when Marvin passed away on June 19, 2022. They were blessed with 7 children: Gayle, Carol, Duane, Linda, Ellen, Keith, and Deann.

Maxine was a loving wife and mother. In 1957, Maxine and Marvin purchased a floor covering business in Fulda, Minnesota. From here, they started Heinrichs Floor and Wall Covering, which they operated successfully for 36 years until they sold it in 1992. Maxine took care of the day-to-day tasks such as bookwork, taxes, etc. Maxine served on the Regional 8 Welfare Board, serving 3 counties for 20 + years. Maxine and Marvin moved to Glencoe, MN, in October 2015, where they became members of the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe. Maxine was an active member at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda, St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Pipestone, Minnesota, and at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Fulda.

Maxine loved watching all sports. If there was a ball or running involved, she was ready to cheer her team on. When Maxine was a young girl, she played softball and basketball. During her adult life, she enjoyed time spent on the golf course. To say Maxine enjoyed quilting would be a strong understatement. She was a part of the St. Gabriel’s Quilt club for many years, and they were able to donate over 100 quilts to various charities. She also sewed quilts for her family and gave them as gifts for weddings, baby showers, and graduations. Maxine also loved to sew and crochet. After retirement, Maxine and Marvin enjoyed sharing coffee and a lot of laughs with their Fulda friends. Maxine and Marvin looked forward to their annual trips to visit each of their children, who lived in 7 different states. Maxine can be remembered for her wisdom and unconditional love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Heinrichs; daughter, Ellen Norby; grandsons, David Friedlander, Jason Heinrichs; Father and Mother, William and Matilda Koster; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Herman and Eleanora Heinrichs; Brothers, William (Loretta) Koster, Walter (Viola) Koster, Kermit (Elsie) Koster, Donald (Dolores) Koster, Doyle (Bernice) Koster, Leroy (Joanell) Koster, Roger (Darlene) Koster; Sisters, Velma (Robert) Blum, Ruth (Cletus) Heinrichs; Brothers-in-law, Cyril Heinrichs, Harold Heinrichs, Richard (Mary) Heinrichs, and Maurice (Meg) Heinrichs; Sister-in-law, Janice (Dennis) Loew.
