Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” Michael Anderson was born on January 28, 1945, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was a precious gift from God given to Hilding and Eileen (Ruff) Anderson. Larry was greeted into this world by his brother, John and sister, Veronica. His brother, Loren, would soon follow, creating many shared memories for the family. Larry was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the Church of St. Thomas More in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. He received his education in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Buffalo Lake High School Class of 1963.
Larry entered military service in the United States Army National Guard. He entered active duty for additional training on July 23, 1963, and returned to National Guard duty on January 17, 1964.
On November 26, 1966, Larry married his forever love and queen, Joan Antoinette Stahl at the Church of St. Thomas More in Lake Lillian. They resided in Mankato, Minnesota, and in 1968, Larry and Joan purchased their farm in rural Buffalo Lake. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Dulcie (pretty sure he was happy you married someone with the same last name), and twin sons, Daniel Charles and Mitchell John. Dulcie was always daddy’s little girl, and the boys were taught how to farm and fix things up just enough to get back to work (it can be fixed the right way later). Larry and Joan shared 58 years of marriage.
Larry was an active member of the American Legion and Buffalo Lake Lions. Larry was on the Board of Directors of the Farmer’s Co-op Elevator in Buffalo Lake and was a founding member and helped build the Ethanol Plant in Buffalo Lake.
Larry had a passion for farming, fishing, and a deep love for his family, but when there was work to do, you had better hurry up and do it. He was an amazing friend, brother, uncle, husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Larry also enjoyed wintering in Arizona with Joan during their retirement years.
Everybody that Larry ran into could tell you a few stories. You never had to make up a story when it came to him. Larry has not left us. He has given us much love, laughter, wonderful memories, and stories to pass on. He will always be in our hearts, mind, soul, and spirit. Larry’s memory will be cherished every time someone remembers the wonderful times and a smile appears on their face.
Larry passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 80 years.
Blessed be his memory.
