Service Information

Betty L. Knaak, age 77, of Stewart, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 20, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials preferred to Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center F.R.E.E. and Family Council.

Obituary

Betty Luella Knaak was born on September 15, 1947, in Oxnard, California. She was the daughter of Albert and Olga (Lockrem) Lade. Betty was baptized as an infant in California and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clayton, Wisconsin. She received her education in Milltown, Wisconsin, and was a graduate of the Unity High School class of 1965. Betty furthered her education at Anoka Technical College in Anoka, Minnesota.

On September 29, 1979, Betty was united in 46 years of marriage to Elroy Knaak at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Stewart, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Sherry, Nathan and Matthew. Betty and Elroy made their home on the Knaak family farm just south of Stewart, Minnesota.

Betty worked in the health care field since 1968 at hospitals in California and Minnesota. After completing her education in 1978, she obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in Minnesota. She worked as an LPN for Forest Lake Nursing Home, Glencoe Regional Health, Buffalo Lake Nursing Home and Shade Tree Retirement center in Brownton, Minnesota. She retired in 1998. Betty was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. Where she enjoyed playing in the card club with several couples from the church.

Betty enjoyed cooking, oil painting, camping, hiking, and listening to all kinds of music. She especially cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Betty passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 77 years.

Husband, Elroy Knaak of Stewart, MN;
Children, Sherry Knaak of Twin Cities, MN,
Nathan Knaak and his wife, Katie of Stewart, MN,
Matthew Knaak and his wife, Jill of Omaha, NE;
Grandchildren: Violet (Zoe), Tya, and Cole;
Great-grandchildren: Logan and Riley;
many other relatives and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Olga Lade; Sister, Bernadean (Thomas) Sausen; Half Sister, Maxine (James) Dolan; Half Brothers, Albert (Rosie) Lade, Jr., Robert Lade; Half Sister, Carol Russell; Brother-in-law, Rob Russell, Brother-in-law, Otto Knaak.

    Elroy and family sending prayers and love to you all, let me know if I can do anything for anyone. I enjoyed the times I would go to lunch with the family and the laughs and hugs we shared.
