Obituary

Dr. Andrew Jon Lindekugel was born on October 15, 1979, and raised in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Jon and Susan (Bruns) Lindekugel. Andy was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where his father was one of the pastors. His parents were proud to say that Andy was the first preacher’s kid born “in captivity” at Christ the King. When he was told by his parents who were expecting another baby, that he would be a big brother, he said, “All I wanted was a dog” (Sorry, Sara!)

Andy attended school from preschool through senior high in Hutchinson, graduating 1998. He was admitted to Augsburg college in Minneapolis, where he broke the school record in shotput and graduated in 2002, with a major in psychology. Andy was always drawn to working in the field of health care, and worked at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis in patient mental health, and as a medic in the emergency room.

But Andy had ambitions to become a doctor someday. His goal was to be the “go to guy” in a hospital setting. After much work and study, he was accepted at the Rosalind-Franklin School of Medicine in North Chicago where he focused on podiatry, dubbing the podiatric school as “Billy Scholl’s College of Knowledge” in honor of the school’s founder Dr. William Scholl, doctor of orthopedics, who invented shoe prosthetics.

After seven years of medical school, Andy graduated on June 6, 2014, as Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). Soon after he was offered a job to work as a podiatrist at Benefis Health Systems in Great Falls, Montana, and eventually achieved board certification in podiatric medicine this last spring. Andy was a well-respected doctor among his colleagues and his many patients who were grateful for his surgical skills and gentle bedside manners. When he found the time in his busy schedule, he focused on his favorite hobby: Golf!

Andy passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the age of 45 years, following a struggle with depression.

God bless Andy’s memory.

Dr. Andy is survived by his:
Partner of 10+ years, Kelly Buschmeyer, and their many dogs, especially “Pete” and “Penny” of Great Falls, MT;
Parents, Pastor Jon and Susan Lindekugel of Hutchinson, MN;
Sister, Sara Lindekugel of Hutchinson, MN;
Nephews, Noah and Elias Lopez of Hutchinson, MN;
Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Andy is preceded in death by his Grandparents, George and Ione Lindekugel and Darwin and Eileen Bruns; Aunt, Kim Richter; Uncles, Mike Bruns, Steve Bruns, and Kent Morstad; Great-uncle, Rev. Dr. William Shoop.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I was Dr. Lindekugel’s patient and am very grateful to have had his care. He was very knowledgeable and professional, but his kindness, sense of humor, and thoughtfulness made him a truly great doctor. He was a special soul, and I, along with many others will miss him a great deal.

    Deepest condolences to all of Dr. Lindekugel’s family, friends, office staff, surgical team and patients. He was one of a kind! Truly a gentle giant. I always looked forward to a day spent in the OR with him. When I learned of the news it rattled me to the core…can’t imagine what you are feeling. Hats off to his parents, you raised a good one. Dr AJL was so respectful, funny and kind. All around a great human and will be missed tremendously by many.

    My sincere and deepest condolences to all of the Lindekugel’s, friends, partners, and loved ones of Andy. I remember him in high school being the funny, kind, smart, and gentle man. I only knew him in high school, but know his impact at Hutch High and am confident he made this impact even greater in his adult life. My continued thoughts and prayers are with you all.
