Service Information
Darlene A. Piehl, age 87, wife of Kenneth, of Acoma Township, rural Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at her home.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials preferred to the organization or charity of donor’s choice.
Obituary
Darlene Ann Piehl was born on January 17, 1938, at home in Ellsworth Township, Meeker County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Carl and Delores (Miller) Schmidt. Darlene was baptized as an infant at her home, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 6, 1952, both at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She received her education in Ellsworth Township and later in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1956.
On April 19, 1958, Darlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Piehl at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three children, Kevin, Cory, and Lisa. Darlene and Ken resided in Acoma Township, rural Hutchinson. They shared 67 years of marriage.
Darlene was employed at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) in Hutchinson, Cedar Mills Hatchery, and Hutchinson’s Stockman’s Café (Sales Barn). She was a loving wife, mother, and partner in the farming operation. Darlene was a life-long member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Darlene enjoyed gardening and canning. She also enjoyed snowmobiling and bowling league. Darlene liked playing cards, especially “Pay Me”, with campground friends and wintering in Texas. She cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Darlene passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at her home in Acoma Township, rural Hutchinson, at the age of 87 years.

Grandchildren, Tina Kramber, Crystal (Robbie) Carlson, Travis (Tory) Piehl, Kelli (Chandler) Commerford, Nicholas (Abbie Crosby) Weir, Nathan Weir;
Great-grandchildren, Jayce Carlson, Dakota Carlson, Jacob Kramber, Taylor Kramber, Macey Piehl, Faye Piehl, Cade Piehl, Shane Weir, Violet Commerford;
Siblings, Pat Kohls and her husband, Wally of Hutchinson, MN,
Loren Schmidt of Darwin, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Darlene is preceded in death by her Parents, Carl and Delores Schmidt; Father- and Mother-in-law, Lawrence and Edna Piehl; Grandson, Shane Piehl; Brother-in-law, Dwayne Piehl; Sister-in-law, Cyndy Schmidt.
