Obituary

Carla Rae (Christensen) Shimon was born on April 4, 1960, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Pauline (Radtke) Christensen. Baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at a young age, Carla carried a deep sense of kindness, integrity, and devotion throughout her life. Carla received her education at Lester Prairie and Silver Lake, Minnesota, and North Platte, Nebraska.

Her life was blessed with two children, April and Brandon, who were the center of her heart. Carla worked in various fields with dedication and grace. Yet, her greatest joy was her family. She reveled in watching her grandchildren grow, explore their passions, and follow their dreams. She loved deeply, laughed freely, and showed endless patience and encouragement to those around her. Carla had a special bond with her dog Scooter, found solace in the outdoors, and spread warmth and light wherever she went.

Carla leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that cannot be measured. Her presence brought comfort and joy, and her absence will leave a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the countless ways she made the lives of others brighter. Her memory will never be forgotten, and she will be dearly missed every day.

Carla is survived by her daughter, April (Lynn) Mulholland; grandchildren, Bubba (Makayla) Mulholland and their daughters, Millie and Halle, and Hannah (Blake) Mulholland; siblings, Sheree Rainwater, Annette (Mark) Plowman, and Curt Christensen; nephews, Shane (Katie) Brueggemeier and Casey (Breanna) Brueggemeier; great-nephews, Landon, Charlie Brueggemeier, and Jaxson Larson; great-nieces, Annika and Emma Brueggemeier, and Rhianna (Jordan) Johnson; along with many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Carla was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Shimon; parents, Kenneth and Pauline Christensen; significant other, Vern Strom; sister, Jaqueline Brueggemeier; nephew, Justin Larson; and niece, Heather Larson.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the life of Carla, for the love she shared and the joy she brought to those around her. Comfort us in our grief, surround us with Your peace, and keep her memory alive in our hearts. Grant her eternal rest, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. Amen.

My heart is breaking. I absolutely loved Carla! I remember the last time we saw each other and how much we laughed and how much we just enjoyed our dinner together. I worked with Carla and I always looked forward to when I worked with her because she was a hard worker and all the customers enjoyed her. She said she enjoyed the customers too. She LOVED her family and lit up when she spoke about them.
She was such a special, kind, loving person. My heart goes out to her family.
