Larry R. Black, age 82, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Hector, Minnesota.
Interment will be January 8, 2025, 1:00 P.M., in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Obituary
Larry Ray Black, born May 26, 1943, age 82, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025.
Larry was born to Eda Ada “Averill” Black and Clark Newell Black Sr. He was first married to Rosemarie “Villarosa” Black. They were married in 1976 in the Philippines in a civil ceremony before a judge and later remarried in 1977 in a church in California. Together they shared his early adult years and raised a family. He later married Evangeline B. “Elnar” Black, who preceded him in death.
Larry spent his working years as a general laborer, in customer service, and as a handyman. He proudly served in the United States Army, received the Purple Heart, and was honorably discharged.
Larry enjoyed gospel music and reading and traveled to Arizona during the winter months. He was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015. As his health declined, he received hospice care at the home of his daughter, Zara Wolden, in Hector, Minnesota. The family extends sincere thanks to Christi for the care and compassion shown to Larry.
Larry is survived by his former wife, Rosemarie “Villarosa” Black, his children, Dawn Black, Joy McGeorge, Dan Black, Zara (Kevin) Wolden, Sandy Black, and Twyla Black; his grandchildren, Asia Noga, Alexander McGeorge, Isaiah Gillen, Kylee Black, Triston Black, and Slade Hart; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline B. “Elnar” Black; his parents; and his brothers, Charles Black, Joe Black, and Clark Newell Black Jr.
