Shirley A. Solmonson

Obituary

Shirley Ann Solomson was born on September 13, 1935, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert and Anna (Thoele) Gerholz. Shirley was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education at District #9 Country School in rural Gaylord.

On May 19, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Maurice Solmonson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. After their marriage, the couple resided in Sibley Township where they farmed. Shirley was employed at Rosenberg and Son in Gaylord, Fingerhut in Gaylord and ADC in St. Peter. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Shirley was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Shirley enjoyed gardening, photo painting, crocheting and crafting, deer hunting, fishing and playing cards. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

When she needed assistance with his daily care Shirley became a resident of Bayside Manor in Gaylord and passed away there on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 90 years. Blessed be her memory.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Anna; Husband, Maurice Solmonson; Sons-in-law, Glenn Klitzke and Noel Enter; Brother, Aloys Gerholz and his wife, Elsie.
