Obituary
Roger Kenneth Sons was born on November 26, 1938, in Norwood Young America. He was the son of Paul and Rose (Woerdehoff) Sons. Roger was baptized and confirmed and later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. On July 2, 1960, Roger was united in marriage to Mary Ann Laura Otto. Roger began his career as a mechanic and soon after started farming and milking cows. Some of his happiest moments on their farm were spent with his dogs and watching the birds beyond their patio door. His love of collecting, restoring, and showing antique vehicles occupied much of his free time, both during his years of farming and throughout retirement.
Above all else, Roger was steadfast in his faith and cherished spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who could always be counted on for support, guidance, and encouragement. He was affectionately referred to by his family as "Papa". His quiet strength, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Roger is survived by his loving family:
Wife, Mary Sons;
Children, Vicky (Joel) Sons-Eiden, Laurie (Tim) Buesgens, and Terry (Cindy) Sons;
Grandchildren, Alyssa and Amanda Eiden, Nicole (Kyle) Evenski, Brandon (Toni) Buesgens, Katelyn (Jack) Thielen, Meagan (Alek) Bixby, and Logan and Ayden Sons;
12 great-grandchildren;
