Service Information

Dean Lyle Huber, age 76, husband of Connie, of Hutchinson, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health in Glencoe.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 1:00 P.M., at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., at our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Obituary

Dean Lyle Huber was born on November 6, 1939, in Bowdle, South Dakota. He was the son of Albert and Alice (Eisenbeisz) Huber. Dean was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bowdle. He received his education in Bowdle, and was a graduate of the Bowdle High School Class of 1957. He continued his education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and graduated in 1963, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Minor in Special Education. He furthered his education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, and graduated in May of 1971, with a Master’s Degree in Administration.

On August 27, 1961, Dean was united in marriage to Connie Job at a Reformed Church in Hosmer, South Dakota. This marriage was blessed with two children, Patricia and Jason. Dean and Connie resided in Lennox, South Dakota, and moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota, in 1977. Dean and Connie shared 54 years of marriage.

Dean was employed at Selby Public School in Selby, South Dakota, as a Fifth Grade Teacher and Drivers Education, from August 1963 to May 1969. He started working at Lennox Public School in Lennox, South Dakota, as an Elementary Principal from August 1969 to May 1977. Dean owned and operated Dean’s Discount Foods in Hutchinson, Minnesota, from June 1977 to November 1986. He became employed for 3M in Hutchinson, from November 1986, until he retired from 3M on June 1, 2004. During his time at 3M, Dean became a partner for Classique Automobiles from November 1986 to July 1988. After his retirement from 3M, Dean helped Johnson and Legend Seeds in Dassel, Minnesota, and operated farm machinery during the summers, from 2005 until 2015. Dean was highly involved in the Hutchinson Community. He was a member of Lennox Jaycess as Past Secretary, Board Member, and President. Dean was a member of Gopher Campfire as Secretary from 1983-1985, Buckle Chairman from 1984-1994, Co-Chairman Trap Range from 1984-1987, Board of Directors from 1985-1990, and Vice President from 1988-1990. He was also a member of the Minnesota Two Cylinder Club as president in 1992, and Newsletter Editor from 1993-2000. Dean was a member of the Employee Committee Representative for 3M in 1989. He was a board Director for the McLeod County Fair from 1994-2002. In addition, Dean was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran church where he served as Stewardship Committee Chairman from 1984-1989, Chairman of His Love Our Response from 1988-1990, and Financial Secretary from 1999-2005.

Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting, and 2 cylinder John Deere Tractors. He also enjoyed spending time at the farm with all the toys. He especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

Dean passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years.

Children, Patricia Bergseng and her husband, John of Glencoe, MN,
                  Jason Huber of Hutchinson, MN;
4 Grandchildren, Ryan Bergseng (23), Marrisa Bergseng (22), Jake Huber (21), and Jesse Huber (16);
Brother, Robert Huber of Bowdle, South Dakota;
Sisters, Kathy Stahl of Bowdle, South Dakota,
              Shirley Stiener of Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Dean is preceded in death by his Parents, Albert and Alice Huber, Sister Judy Huber, and Brothers, Jack and Duane Huber.

    I remember working with you and Dean in the grocery store days. I made lots of deliveries to your store and purchases for my dad’s Coca-Cola company. I remember Dean and Connie working log hours at the store. You were always very nice to work with and treated me very well. I am very sorry for your loss. Dean was a good man. Mike Buske
