Service Information
Ruth Allen, age 78, of Hector, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at the Palmyra Covenant Church, Palmyra Township, Renville County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Obituary
Ruth LuVern (Lange) Allen was born on July 31, 1937, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Roy and LuVern (Koelln) Lange. Ruth received her education at District #81 Country School in Martinsburg Township.
On August 9, 1952, Ruth was united in marriage to Robert K. Allen in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Nine children were born to this union. She was employed at CSI/Suttle in Hector, where she made many lasting friendships. Ruth and Robert shared 63 years of marriage.
Ruth was a member of Palmyra Covenant Church, and volunteered at the Olivia Armory.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, embroidery, cooking, baking, and gardening. She also enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and various “knick knacks.” She was a wonderful seamstress, and you could find her in the sewing room or near the rug loom. You could always count on a Schwann’s ice cream treat or fresh baked goodies whenever you stopped to visit grandma Ruthie. Ruth loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Ruth became a resident of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted in November of 2014. She passed away peacefully at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, with her family by her side guiding her to heaven, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 21 days. Blessed be her memory.
