Service Information
Helen M. Retzlaff, age 90, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, August 28, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
Obituary
Helen Mae (Sturges) Retzlaff was born on May 13, 1926, in Fenton Township, Murray County, Minnesota. She was the seventh child of Robert and Christina (Karl) Sturges. Helen was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith. She received her education in her home area.
On November 6, 1949, Helen was united in marriage to Arthur Retzlaff at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township, Meeker County, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children. Helen and Arthur resided in Glencoe, Minnesota, before moving to Hutchinson in 1959. Helen was a loving homemaker and mother. They shared 55 years of marriage until Arthur passed away on October 26, 2005.
Helen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Helen enjoyed reading and reading to her grandchildren, watching westerns, gardening, playing pinochle, traveling to Wyoming and Las Vegas, going to the casinos and snowmobiling. Most of all, she liked her chocolate.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Helen became a resident of Harmony River Living Center on May 30, 2012, and passed away there on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the age of 90 years.

Amber Graudin and her husband, Zach of Waconia, MN;
Great-Grandchildren, Jacinda Orozco, Tiler Orozco, Jadon Timmer, Tylie Retzlaff, Blade Retzlaff, Zoe Graudin;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and Christina Sturges; Husband, Arthur Retzlaff; Daughter, Cheryl Retzlaff; Son, Alan Retzlaff; Son-In-Law, David Volkenant; Parents-In-Law, Karl and Linda Retzlaff.
