Obituary

Otto Albert Stresemann was born on November 5, 1916, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Benjamin and Martha (Klukas) Stresemann. Otto was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 29, 1931, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township.  He received his education in Bismarck Township, and attended country school through the eighth grade.

Otto entered active military service in the United States Army on April 18, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota and served his country during World War II as an Auto Mechanic in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He received an Honorable Discharge on November 3, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, and achieved the rank of TEC/4.

On August 3, 1941, Otto was united in marriage to Esther Gaulke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Sandra and Marcia. Otto and Esther resided on their farm near Brownton in Round Grove Township for 31 years, until they moved to Hutchinson. Otto and Esther shared 62 years of marriage until Esther passed away on August 4, 2003.

Otto was a wonderful husband and father.  He worked as a lifelong farmer; farming was his passion.  He retired in 1982. After retiring from farming he worked part-time at the Hutchinson Sales Barn for 10 years.

Otto not only enjoyed planting his fields as any farmer does, but he also enjoyed planting his flower and vegetable gardens as well.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

In 2007, Otto  became a resident of Prince of Peace Retirement Living. When Otto needed assistance with his daily care, he moved to Harmony River Living Center on November 11, 2013.  Otto passed away there on September 26, 2016, at the age of 99 years.

Blessed be his memory.
