Service Information
Charlene Lois Podratz, age 76, of Hector, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at her home.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Hector, with interment in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Obituary
Charlene Lois Podratz was born December 30, 1938, to Fred and Irene (Allmon) Matzdorf in Preston Lake Township, Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. She was baptized January 7, 1939, at home by Rev. Wm. Heidtke of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Hector. On June 29, 1952, she was confirmed by Rev. Fraley at the Buffalo Lake Methodist Church. On May 20, 1956, she graduated from the Buffalo Lake High School.
Charlene married John E. Podratz on October 11, 1958 at the Buffalo Lake Methodist Church. To this union were born three children, John, Debra, and Melissa. They lived at Stewart and Buffalo Lake before moving to Hector in September, 1962.
Charlene was employed at the Buffalo Lake Nursing Home, Hector School, and C.S.I. She also took care of her husband, John, who was in a wheelchair for over ten years. She was an active member of the Hector United Methodist Church. Charlene belonged to the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Her greatest joy in life was her family.
Early Saturday morning, June 13, 2015, Charlene passed away at her home, having reached the age of 76 years. Blessed be her memory.
Charlene is survived by her:
Children: John Podratz and his wife Marilda of Apple Valley,
Debra Podratz of Hector, and
Melissa Miller and her husband Todd of Brooklyn Park;
Grandchildren: Gabriel Podratz, Christina Podratz, and Carrie Podratz;
6 Great-Grandchildren;
Sister, Joy Kounkel of Isle, Minnesota;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sister Sharon Wiggert, and brother-in-law Arlo Wiggert.
