Richard Allen Milbrandt

Obituary

Richard Allen Milbrandt was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota, on November 27, 1952, the son of Arthur and Lorraine (Elling) Milbrandt.  He was baptized and confirmed as a youth.  Richard graduated from the Stewart High School in 1971, and on June 29, 1971, entered service to his country in the United States Marine Corps.  He served for nine years, receiving his Honorable Discharge on April 4, 1980. 

On September 3, 1977, Richard was united in marriage to Gelyla Ann Miller at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.  Their marriage was blessed with three sons.  Richard was also blessed with a daughter from a previous relationship.  Richard and Gelyla made their home in North Carolina for three years, while Richard was stationed at Cherry Point.   Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, they moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota.  Richard was most recently employed with Starkey Labs in Glencoe. 

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, western movies, and playing cards, especially buck euchre.

On Sunday, January 12, 2014, Richard passed away at the Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, having reached the age of 61 years.  Blessed be his memory. 

Richard is survived by his wife Gelyla Milbrandt of Stewart;

Children: Nicholas Milbrandt and his wife Chrystal of Stewart,
Brett Milbrandt and his wife Megan of Hector,
Jesse Milbrandt of Shakopee, and
Jennifer Peters of Hernando, Mississippi;

Grandchildren: Tyler, Allison, Wyatt, Maddox, and Piper Milbrandt, and Abby Peters;

Sister Betty Schmidt and her husband David of Hutchinson;

Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lorraine Milbrandt, and his son-in-law Mike Peters.
