Deloris Swanson

Obituary

Deloris Emma Swanson was born on December 13, 1927, in Gaylord, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Martin and Esther (Podratz) Kuphal. Deloris was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She received her education at Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School in Gaylord.

On February 2, 1947, Deloris was united in marriage to Alton Swanson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Alfsborg Township. She was a loving mother and homemaker. This union was blessed with two children, Linda and Larry. Deloris and Alton shared 59 years of marriage before Alton passed away in 2006.

Deloris was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and served on the Women’s League. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross Blood Drive. She was a member of Lakeview Auxiliary and stamped over 3,000 dishtowels. Deloris was a charter member of the Alfsborg Rural Welfare Club.

Deloris enjoyed church activities, crafts, embroidering, and canning. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When she needed assistance with her daily care, Deloris became a resident of Glencoe Regional Health Service Long Term Care, then moved to Autumn Lane in Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, and then moved to Vista Prairie at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minnesota, on April 1, 2011, and passed away there on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the age of 90 years. Blessed be her memory.

Brothers, Marvin Kuphal and his wife, Janice of Gaylord, MN, Karl Kuphal and his wife, Sue of Gaylord, MN, and Martin Kuphal Jr. and his wife, LuAnn of Gaylord, MN;
Sisters-In-Law, Janette Kuphal of Gaylord, MN, Elizabeth Kuphal of Gaylord, MN, and Lorna Kuphal of Gaylord, MN;
Many Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Deloris Swanson was preceded in death by her Parents, Martin and Esther Kuphal; Husband, Alton Swanson; Brothers, Irwin Kuphal, Sidney Kuphal, and Albert Kuphal.
