Service Information
Viola Falling, age 102, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018, at her Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service, all at the church.
Memorials Preferred To Little Lambs Christian Center.
Obituary
Viola Ella (Rannow) Falling was born on December 15, 1915, in rural Hutchinson, Lynn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Ida (Mahs) Rannow. Viola was baptized as an infant on January 9, 1916 by Reverend J. Bauer, and confirmed in her Lutheran faith as a youth on May 19, 1929, by Reverend W. Frank – both at Zions Lutheran Church in Lynn Township. She received her education at Hutchinson Public School through the eighth grade.
On November 24, 1936, Viola was united in marriage to Oscar F. Falling, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lynn Township. This marriage was blessed with three children, James, Lyle and Larry. Oscar and Viola resided in Hutchinson. They shared more than 75 years of marriage until Oscar passed away on July 2, 2012. Viola later moved to The Pines Assisted Living in Hutchinson, in July of 2012. She then moved to Harmony River in Hutchinson.
Viola was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was employed as a Cook with Hutchinson Public School for 15 years, until she retired in 1977. Viola was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She was also an active member of the Dorcas Club for many years.
Viola was a very good cook and loved to bake, especially caramel rolls and cookies. She enjoyed quilting, both at church and at home. She loved to travel and fish at the cabin on Lake Marion in Brownton, Minnesota. Viola especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Viola passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 102.

Viola is preceded in death by her spouse, Oscar Falling; Parents, Herman and Ida Rannow; Son, James Falling; Brothers, Walter Rannow and Clarence Rannow; Sisters, Verna Schmidt and Elaine Boldt; Daughter-In-Law, Marcia Falling; Brothers-In-Law, Ernie Schmidt and Reinhardt Boldt.
