I knew Fred best when we were younger. As first cousins we’d connect fairly often at the Fischer farm in Danube, along with the Good cousins. Fred was always fun and usually up to some kind of mischief. Fred was always friendly, always thinking, and always seemed to have a smile on his face. And, he always had a nice car….
    I’ll miss my cousin Freddie.

I first met Fred, along with the late Terry Larson, at Leo’s in Chaska in the summer of 1988. I got to know him through his occasional trips to Kansas City plus 18 years of multiple golf outings in and around Des Moines. The golf crew always included Fred, Terry, Ron Nuhring, Ron Schutte, the Niemeyer boys plus many others. Golf has a way of revealing a person’s true character. I found Fred to be a warm, caring, respectful, gentle soul. During our outings the breakfast table was the setting where stories were told and retold, friends were cherished and those that passed before us remembered. I will always remember Fred’s thoughtfulness, his laughter and his friendship. He was a good man. Rest in peace my friend.

Fred was a very good friend of my husband’s, Terry, for many years as they both worked at United Telephone/Sprint and after they retired enjoyed golf trips to Iowa after we moved to Kansas. I got to know Fred quite well also and will always remember him with a smile on his face and a chuckle on his lips. A very nice guy. Rest in peace Fred and say hi to Terry for me.
