Raymond Kuphal

Obituary

Raymond Herman Kuphal was born on November 20, 1927, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of Fred and Olga (Wille) Kuphal. Ray was baptized as an infant on December 4, 1927, and was later confirmed in his faith on April 6, 1941, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. He received his education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School Class of 1945.

Ray entered active military service in the United States Navy during World War II. He received the World War II Victory medal. Ray was Honorably Discharged on December 24, 1947.

On February 27, 1951, Ray was united in marriage to Darlyne Volinkaty at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage in Gaylord by Reverend E.H. Stahlke. After their marriage the couple resided in Gaylord. He was employed as an accountant for the Sibley County Welfare Office for 26 years; and worked part time as a bookkeeper for Ralph Jones Ford Motor Company in Gaylord. This marriage was blessed with five children. Ray and Darlyne shared 65 years of marriage before Darlyne passed away on December 24, 2016.

Ray was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and was active in the Parents Teachers League and various church organizations. He was also a member of the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433 in Gaylord.

Ray enjoyed bowling, woodworking, gardening, crossword puzzles, music, especially liked Marty Robbins, and he played guitar in his younger years. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ray passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord at the age of 91 years. Blessed be his memory.

9 Great-Grandchildren;
Brother, Robert (Vonnie) Kuphal;
Sisters-In-Law, Ervie Asmus and Lois Volinkaty;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his Parents, Fred and Olga Kuphal; Wife, Darlyne Kuphal; Son-In-Law, Jesse Paluck; Daughter-In-Law, Gina Kuphal; Sister and Brother-In-Law, Lucille and Don Hartley; Sisters-In-Law, Ordell Roepke and Mary Ann Volinkaty; Brothers-In-Law, Edgar Asmus, Delphin Volinkaty, Orrie Volinkaty, and Willmer Roepke.
