Gerald “Jerry” Steele

Obituary

Gerald Jerome Steele was born on May 8, 1941, in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He was the son of Francis and Gladys (Buckingham) Steele. He was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith, both at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Park Rapids. He received his education in Park Rapids and was a graduate of the class of 1959.

On October 10, 1964, Gerald was united in marriage to Kathryn Jane Kyro at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Park Rapids. This marriage was blessed with three children, Deborah, Daniel, and Michael. In 1965, Gerald and Kathy moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 52 years of marriage until the passing of Kathy on June 25, 2017.

Gerald was employed at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing as an Electro-Mechanic until his retirement on May 1, 2008. He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.

Gerald enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. Gerald was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. John's Council #4797, for over 50 years. He was elected Grand Knight from 1977 to 1978.

When Gerald needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on June 18, 2019. He passed away there on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the age of 78 years. Blessed be his memory.

Sister-In-Law, Suzanne Steele of Park Rapids, MN;

many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his Parents, Francis and Gladys Steele; Wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Steele; Granddaughter, Brandee Heidecker; Grandparents, Donald Buckingham Sr. and his wife, Alice, Claude Steele, Elizabeth Steele; Brothers, Ronald Steele, Francis Steele Jr.; Brother-In-Law, Lyle Miller.
