Service Information
Mary Jo Boehning, age 53 of Gaylord passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at her home in rural Gaylord.
Memorial Service will be Friday, September 25, 2020, 10:30 A.M. at Seven Mile Creek County Park, 47454 US-169, St Peter, Minnesota, at the West Shelter at the end of the road; off Hwy. 169 between St. Peter and North Mankato.
Gathering of Family and Friends with be one hour prior to the service. Bring your own lawn chairs.
The family would like to thank everyone for all their help and those who brought food during Mary Jo’s illness.
Obituary
Mary Jo Boehning was born on December 5, 1966, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the daughter of William and Barbara (Sawyer) Crooks. Mary Jo was baptized and confirmed as a teen at the Moravian Church in Waconia. She received her education in Waconia and was a graduate of the Waconia High School Class of 1985. She furthered her education at Morehead State University. She earned many teaching degrees throughout her career.
On July 29, 1989, Mary Jo was united in marriage to Alan Boehning at the Moravian Church in Waconia. After their marriage, the couple resided in rural Bongards and later rural Gaylord. This union was blessed with two children, Mary Jo was employed as a Special Ed teacher for the GFW District. Mary Jo and Alan shared 31 years of marriage.
Mary Jo was a very active member of the Winthrop Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop. She started the “Clothes Closet” in Winthrop.
Mary Jo enjoyed trail running and staying physical fit, hiking, riding motorcycle, and vacation road trips. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Mary Jo passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at her home in rural Gaylord after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 53 years. Blessed be her memory.
Mary Jo is survived by her:
Husband, Alan Boehning of Gaylord, MN;
Children, Tara Jo Felipe and her husband, Carlos of Arlington, MN, and
Joram Boehning and his wife, Ashlie of Cameron, NC;
Grandchildren, Dawson Boehning, Dalton Boehning and Dylan Starrett;
Sisters, Debbie Wagner of Eden Prairie, MN, Karen LaCore of Duluth, MN, and Sally Quam of Mound, MN;
Brother, Gary Crooks of Hutchinson, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her Mother, Barbara Crooks.
