Obituary
Deloris Meada (Prieve) Anderson was born October 31, 1939 in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was second of two children born to Roland and Meada Prieve. She was baptized as an infant in the Christian faith. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1957 and was employed in the offices of the high school into the early 1960’s.
On July 16, 1960, Deloris was united in marriage to Emil R. Anderson, Jr. This marriage was blessed with three children, Paul, Sara, and Nancy. Deloris and Emil resided in rural Hutchinson and shared 53 years of marriage.
Deloris was a very active and knowledgeable life-time farmer, who managed the livestock while her husband managed the field crops. They raised corn, soybeans, alfalfa, cattle, pigs, sheep and poultry and she was no stranger to hard work. Deloris took special joy in the gardening of fruits and vegetables for her family, as well as growing and maintaining glorious flower gardens. Her most long term "extra job" was cashiering at the local Shopko store.
Deloris was a skilled hunter of pheasant, deer, and ducks and enjoyed fishing year-round. Deloris was an avid reader, seamstress, and baker. She was proud 4-H mom and enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and friends and going to church at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. She loved having farm cats.
Deloris passed away Monday, December 7th, 2020, at CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud at the age of 81 years.
Blessed be her memory.
Deloris is survived by her children Paul Anderson of Hutchinson, Sara (& Bob) Almich of Alexandria, MN and Nancy (& Dale) Larson of Balaton, MN as well as grandchildren Nicholas, Zachary, Dalton, Christian, Brenton, Samantha, Jamie, and five great-grandchildren, as well as Fredric’s children Kathy, Beth, and Laura.
Deloris is preceded in death by husband Emil, Parents Roland and Meada, Parents-in-Law Emil Sr. and Alice Anderson, Brother Fredric, and Sister-in-Law Patsy.

I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I grew up in the Bear Lake area and remember seeing her in the school office. Your farm is just a few blocks west of my parent’s farm, Clayton and Elaine Lundeen, It is on the Bear Lake Road just across from Gopher Campfire. We sold it in 2012.

I think Deloris would have been too young
to have been taught by Elaine at the Lake Hook School,
but perhaps her older brother Fred did have that honour.

I remember,
as a youth in the Bear Lake Beaver’s 4H Club,
being dispatched to the Lundeen Farm
to Load Chickens from the Chicken Shed
into a Transport Truck.
Perhaps, both of my sisters and
Deloris helped as well.

I remember that too. My dad was very ill and close to the end with small cell carcinoma in the lungs. He died in 1981.

What a wonderful women and co worker. We worked together at the Shopko store. After we retired we tired to keep in contact. Many good memories,!,

So sorry to hear of Deloris’ passing. I worked with her at Shopko and though her arthritis caused her constant pain, she was always on the job. My sympathy to her family. She loved all of you and spoke of you often.

Greetings Paul, Sara, Nancy!
My heartfelt sympathy in the passing of your mom. It has been quite some time since I have seen Aunt Deloris! Looking at her photo even though her hair is a different shade she is still easily recognizable! Her skin looks so soft & not that of an 81yo! Deloris was always nice to me & gave just the right amount of attention. I was shy & a little socially awkward & she always showed just enough interest to be welcoming & make me feel comfortable. I’m sure we were shrieking thru your house destroying anything in our paths the little terrors that we were. I always thought of Aunt Deloris as a hard worker! I seem to remember her being in charge of the farm animals while Emil worked in the field. I remember the chickens & I am thinking there may have been a lamb that was bottle fed. I believe there was a garden or flower garden near the house as well. Some of my fondest childhood memories on your farm were riding on a snowmobile but it wasn’t winter & playing games of all sorts upstairs. (I think there was a rocking horse we were pretty hard on.) And of course the Christmas celebrations where all of us children had to perform! Of the best memories was the delicious food that was always present when we gathered. I remember one time Deloris made a chocolate cake for the February birthdays. I didn’t want to eat it because it had green frosting, but when I tried it…WHOA it was the best cake I’d ever had! I don’t recall now if it was mint, buttercream, cream-cheese frosting or what but it was absolutely delicious! The passing of your parent(s) must be difficult. May it help to know they are thought of with warm thoughts with good values & character. May it bring you peace reflecting on your childhood & now adulthood memories.
Much Love, your cousin,
Char McDonald
