Joann F. Ahlers, age 71, of Montevideo, formerly Gibbon, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Joann Francis Ahlers was born on December 10, 1949, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harley and Veronica (Braun) Groebner. Joann was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her catholic faith as a youth, both at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. She received her elementary education at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and high school education in Fairfax. Joann was a graduate with the Fairfax High School class of 1967.
Joann grew up in Fairfax and lived in the Gibbon area while raising her family, she then moved to Redwoods Falls in 1991. She later relocated to Montevideo in 2016.
She was employed as a hair stylist for many years. Joann was most recently working at Walmart in Montevideo and Good Samaritan Society in Battle Lake, Minnesota.
Joann enjoyed going to the lake, cooking for her grandchildren, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her dog, Cooper.
Joann passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 71 years.

Joann is preceded in death by her Parents, Harley and Veronica Groebner; Nephew, Timothy Mathiowetz; Brothers-in-law, Ronald Hanson, Gerald Mathiowetz.
