Service Information

Mabel Myrtle Abraham, age 99, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021, at Grand Meadows in Glencoe, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.

Gathering of family & friends will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the Allina Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Obituary

Mabel Myrtle Abraham was born on May 20, 1922, in Brownton, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Otto and Margaret (Nieberle) Spiering.  Mabel was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. She received her education in Brownton, and was a graduate of the Brownton High School Class of 1939.

On January 26, 1942 Mabel was united in marriage to Melvin Abraham at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. They first made their home in Glencoe, then moved to Paramount, California where they lived for 20 years and later moved back to Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with 4 sons, Clifford, Mark, Douglas, Bruce. Mabel and Melvin shared over 40 years of marriage together, until Melvin passed away on July 28, 1982

Mabel worked as a waitress in Glencoe. In California she worked at a drive-in dairy for 20 years. Mabel returned to Glencoe and worked at Telex in Glencoe for 20 years until she retired in 2005. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota.

Mabel enjoyed playing cards, shopping and baking. Together with her husband Melvin she enjoyed riding as well as driving their 1932 Ford Roadster. Mabel will be remembered for her great sense of humor and positive attitude.

Mabel passed away on August 2, 2021, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 99.

Mabel is survived by her:

Sons, Clifford Abraham and his wife, Christiane, of Vernon, CT,
           Bruce Abraham and his wife, Jill of, Des Moines, IA;
Grandchildren, Eric Abraham and his wife, Kristin, Karen Lydecker and her husband, Dan, Luke Abraham and his wife, Rachel, Erin Abraham;
Great-Grandchildren, Ethan Boobyer, Jackson Lydecker, Mathieu Lydecker, Fox Abraham, Ash Abraham, Winter Abraham;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and friends.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Abraham; Parents, Otto and Margaret Spiering, Sons, Mark Abraham, Douglas Abraham; Sister, Ceceile Martin and her husband, Harvey.

    To the family of Mabel, what a dear woman. Such a good friend and had a lot of fun at telex. Me, Mabel and Sofie setting the pace for the assembly line. I will keep my memories of you close to my heart. Hope to see you again dear friend.
