Service Information
LeRoy H. Markgraf, age 90, of Hector, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector and will continue one hour prior to the service at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Obituary
LeRoy Hermann Markgraf was born on February 15, 1931, on the family farm in Renville County. He was the son of Johannes and Katrina Elizabeth (Gorte) Markgraf. LeRoy was baptized as an infant at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. LeRoy received his education through the sixth grade in Preston Lake County School
LeRoy entered active military service in the Army on March 11, 1953, in Minneapolis and served his country during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 9, 1956, and achieved the rank of SP3.
On October 16, 1956, LeRoy was united in marriage to Darlene Hennessey at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. This marriage was blessed with three children, Brenda, Curtis, and Dennis. LeRoy and Darlene made their home in Preston Lake Township, rural Buffalo Lake. LeRoy and Darlene shared 47 years of marriage before Darlene passed away on November 14, 2003.
LeRoy was a farmer in Preston Lake Township, Renville County. He enjoyed milking the cows and helping Darlene take care of the ducks.
LeRoy enjoyed pheasant hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards at family get-togethers and dancing. LeRoy will always be remembered for having high family values. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
LeRoy passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 90 years.

Great-Grandchildren, Timothy, Gabriella, Alison, Ellizabethe, and Charlytte;
Great-Great-Grandchild, Lincoln;
Many other relatives and friends.
Leroy is preceded in death by his Wife, Darlene Markgraf; Parents, John and Elizabeth Markgraf; an infant son; Grandchild, LeRoy Markgraf; Six Brothers; and Five Sisters.

I always enjoyed talking to Leroy he mostly listen with few words. But it felt like family to me being his brother Willie was my Great Uncle. Try seem so much alike. I took care of LeRoy for many years at Glenfields and prior at GRHS LTC. He was a gentle man, never complained, wanted to do as much as he could for himself. He will always have a special spot in my memories and God Bless ???

I didn’t know Uncle LeRoy very well, and our communications were via annual Christmas cards and notes. He always added a newsy note with his Christmas card to us. I’m sorry he has passed, but am glad he’s with Aunt Darlene now. The world is poorer for his no longer being in it.
