Service Information
Loren E. Jilek, age 82, of Shorewood, Minnesota, formerly of Lester Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021, at The Pillars of Shorewood Landing Senior Living in Shorewood.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 25, 2021, 1:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Minnesota, with interment in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Winsted.
Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2021, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday, all at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be Friday, September 24th at 7:00 P.M. at church.
Prayer Service will be Friday, September 24 at 7:30 P.M. at church.
Military Honors will be provided by the Lester Prairie American Legion Post #463.
Memorials preferred.
Masks are recommended.
Obituary
Loren Ernest Jilek was born on April 28, 1939, in Silver Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Ernest and Clara (Pokornowski) Jilek. Loren was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. He received his education in Silver Lake and was a graduate of the Silver Lake High School Class of 1957. He furthered his education at St. Cloud State, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a Major in Accounting. Loren served his country in the United States National Guard.
On January 14, 1960, Loren was united in marriage to Miriam Skerik at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in St. Cloud, Minneapolis, Le Sueur, Lester Prairie and most recently Shorewood. They were blessed with four children, Douglas, Bonnie, Jerry, and Renee. Loren and Miriam shared 61 years of marriage.
Loren was first employed at Investor’s Diversified in Minneapolis, Minnesota for two years. While they lived in Le Sueur, Loren worked briefly at Green Giant. In 1969, Loren became the President of First Community Bank in Lester Prairie. For the majority of his working years, Loren worked in banking and became president and soon thereafter, became the owner of First Community Banks in Silver Lake and Lester Prairie. He also owned and operated Jilek Insurance Agency in Lester Prairie for 43 years. Loren retired in 2000.
Loren was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. He was active in the church by being a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Loren was also a part of his church choir. He was an active community member and was also a member of the Lester Prairie Lions Club.
Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling all over the world. He especially enjoyed traveling with Miriam to Hawaii, Czech Republic, the Mediterranean, Poland, Greece, Italy, France, Alaska, Australia and going on many cruises.
Loren became a resident of The Pillars of Shorewood Landing Senior Living in Shorewood and passed away there on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the age of 82 years.

Great-Grandchildren, Eliza Dressler, Layne Dressler, McKenna Thiemann, Brock Thiemann, Grant Thiemann, Jackson Weise, Mila Weise;

Loren is preceded in death by his Parents, Ernest and Clara Jilek; Son, Douglas Jilek; Father and Mother-in-law, Bill and Christine Skerik; Brothers-in-law, Francis Meyer and Lynn Emberley.

To Loren’s children- Some of my fondest memories as a child were at Ernest and Clara’s farm. Ernest was a colorful grand father. I still think of him often. Your dad was a gentle and very generous man. I pray that God provides you with the strength that only He can provide at this difficult time.
