Elton " Mink" Bandemer, age 88, of Plato, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 25, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 25, 2021, from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor's choice.
Obituary
Elton “Mink” Edwin Bandemer was born on February 1, 1933, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Ben and Ida (Oltmann) Bandemer. Elton was baptized as an infant on February 12, 1933, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, by Pastor Kolbe. He was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 5, 1946, by Pastor Alfred Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. Elton received his education at rural School District #19, he was a graduate of the Glencoe High School class of 1951.
Elton was united in marriage to Lorraine Quast on November 29, 1954, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Kevin, Terry, and Brian. Elton and Lorraine shared 66 years of marriage.
Elton worked with Oscar Luke Construction until he was called to serve his country in the United States Army. The couple moved to Anchorage, Alaska, while Elton was in the service. In 1958 they moved to Plato, Minnesota, where they made their forever home. Elton was employed by Lepel Brothers Construction for 25 years. In 1984 he was employed by Glencoe Butter & Produce until he retired in 1995.
Elton was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, MN. Elton served two terms as Mayor of Plato. He was a member of the Plato Fire Department for 23 years. Elton served as the Assistant Chief for the fire department for 8 years and trustee for the Relief Association for 5 years. Elton was a dedicated snowplow driver for Helen Township for 54 years.
Elton LOVED to fish. (in the rain, snow, and sunshine) Seeing him sitting at the end of the dock with a fishing pole in hand was a common sight and is a memory his family will cherish forever. He also enjoyed deer hunting in the fall. Elton and Lorraine had a shared loved for watching sports on tv; basketball, baseball, football, hockey, etc. He cherished the time he spent with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his grand-dog, Oscar.
Elton passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 88 years. Blessed be his memory.

Children, Kevin Bandemer and his wife, Jodi, of Plato, MN,
Terry Bandemer and his wife, Tuffy, of Cape Coral, FL,
Tubby Bandemer and his wife, Ann, of Fargo, ND;
Grandchildren, Ashley Schmidt (Andy), Shaina Bandemer (Chad), Kali Boston (Taylor), Morgan Bandemer, Katlynn Bandemer (Ricardo);
Great-grandchildren, Connor Schmidt, Kyleigh Schmidt, Declan Boston, Renick Boston;
Sister-in-law, Jean Quast of Phoenix, AZ;
Many Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elton is preceded in death by his Parents, Ben and Ida Bandemer; Father and Mother-in-law, Ewald and Mary Quast, Brother, Marvin (Alice) Bandemer, Sister, Verona (Walter) Schmidt; Many Brothers and Sisters-in-law.

It was Mink when we remodeled our kitchen who drew a mouse door in the sheet rock and said, “All Mice Enter Here.” He always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face. Rest in Peace Mink!

So sorry for your loss, Mink was a great man. Always joking and in a good mood. Miss his sense of humor! I’ll always remember him down at the fertilizer plant with my dad joking around or playing sheep head on those rain days. Deepest sympathy!
