Service Information
Luella Draeger age 83, of Winthrop, passed away Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at the Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral Service will be Monday, February 8th, 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, Penn Township, McLeod County.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 7th, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Obituary
Luella Esther (Podratz) Draeger was born on December 3, 1932, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Edna (Niebuhr) Podratz. Luella was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. She received her education in Gibbon.
On November 16, 1950, Luella was united in marriage to Lester Draeger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. After their marriage, the couple lived in Transit Township and in 1958 moved to a farm in Bismarck Township. In 1966 they purchased and moved to their farm in Transit Township. In 1995, she started working at Hands, Inc. in Winthrop, retiring in 2010. Luella was a loving mother and homemaker. Luella and Lester were blessed with five children and they shared 65 years of marriage.
Luella was a former member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township, McLeod County.
Luella enjoyed baking, cooking, decorate her home, dancing, tending animals and helping Lester on the farm. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Luella loved spending time with her family especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Luella passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington at the age of 83 years. Blessed be her memory.
