Service Information

Agnes Schue, age 86, wife of Peter of Gaylord, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington. 

Eastern Star Service followed by the Funeral Service will be Friday, February 9, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord with interment in the Gaylord City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the United Church of Christ, and will continue one hour prior to the service, ALL at the church. 

Arrangements are with the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.

Obituary

Agnes Marie Schue was born on February 2, 1937, in New Avon Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Jens and Carrie (Jensen) Gammelgaard. Agnes was baptized as an infant at Gilfillan Lutheran Church rural Morgan, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at a Lutheran Church in Wabasso, Minnesota. She received her education in Wabasso and was a graduate of the Wabasso High School Class of 1955.

On February 4, 1988, Agnes was united in marriage to Peter Schue at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. Agnes was employed at the Gaylord Clinic as a receptionist and then at Sibley County as a Financial Worker, retiring in 1992. Agnes and Peter shared almost 36 years of marriage.

Agnes was a member of the United Church of Christ in Gaylord and a member of the Women’s Group. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and served as a state officer; and was the president of Financial Workers for Minnesota.

Agnes enjoyed cooking and traveling. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

When she needed assistance with her care, she became a resident of Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington on November 6, 2017, and passed away there on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Blessed be her memory.

Agnes is survived by her:
Husband,         Peter Schue of Gaylord, MN;
Sons,                Perry Berg and his wife, Renata of Waseca, MN,
                        Greg  Berg and his wife, Deborah of Desert Hills, AZ, and
                        Guy Berg and his wife, Kathryn of Woodbury, MN;
Stepson,           Brian Schue and his wife, Tania of Scottsdale, AZ;
Grandchildren, Niki (Munya) Tirivepi, Alistair and Dylan Berg;
Step grandchildren, Jackson (Lynn) Kirby, Mathew (Lauren) Kirby, Blake and Travis Schue;  
Great-grandchildren, Nyasha, Ruvarashe and Yananai Tirivepi;
Step great-grandchildren, John Luke Kirby and Jacob Kirby;
Sister, Ellen Schweim of Mankato, MN;
Brother, Arnold Gammelgaard of Osseo, MN;
Sister-in-law, Margie Gammelgaard of Wabasso, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her Parents, Jens and Carrie Gammelgaard; Stepson, Jeffery Schue; Grandson, Alex Berg; Siblings, Alma Welsand, Nora Kempfert, Christina Larson, Marvin Gammelgaard, Martin Gammelgaard, Donald Gammelgaard; Step-brother, Bernard Montgomery; Sisters-in-law, Betty Gammelgaard, Nancy Gammelgaard, Marilyn Gammelgaard; Brothers-in-law, Donald Kempfert, Harold Schweim, Donald Welsand, Ole Larson.
