Alice Bandemer, age 88, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 9, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Friday.
Obituary
Alice Irene (Sturges) Bandemer was born on November 6, 1929, in Hadley, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Robert and Christine (Karl) Sturges. Alice was baptized as an infant in 1930 at the Methodist church in Slayton, Minnesota, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 13, 1941, by Rev. Kufus at the Methodist church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She received her education in Hutchinson, Minnesota, graduating with the Hutchinson High School Class of 1947.
On November 9, 1952, Alice was united in marriage to Marvin Bandemer by Rev. Russell Carr at the Methodist church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Alice and Marvin made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota, on Marvin’s family farm. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Jeffrey, Jay, Jody and Jill. Alice and Marvin shared over 56 years of marriage, until Marvin passed away on May 15, 2009.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Alice worked as a bookkeeper at the elevator. Alice was a faithful member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Alice’s children were very important to her. She enjoyed driving the tractor on the farm, reading the newspaper, cooking, baking bars, sewing, playing Pinochle, watching Western movies and the Minnesota Twins. Alice also loved going on rides around the countryside. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Alice passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 88 years and 3 months. Blessed be her memory.

Alice is preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and Christine Sturges; Husband, Marvin Bandemer; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Bernhard and Ida Bandemer; Siblings, Lester Sturges and his wife, Gertrude, Donald Sturges and his wife, Ruth, Edith Deal and her husband, Carleton “Jiggs”, Norma Veenhuis and her husband, Herman, Kenneth Sturges and his wife, Margaret, Delmer Sturges, Helen Retzlaff and her husband, Arthur, Doris Havemeier and her husband, John; Sister-In-Law, Verona Schmidt and her husband, Walter.
