Obituary

Alice Florence Lund was born December 31, 1921, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Dewey and Minnie (Jensen) Helm. She was baptized as an infant at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, rural Fairfax and Franklin, and was confirmed in her faith there as a youth. Alice received her education in Franklin, and graduated with the Class of 1939 from the Franklin High School.

On April 30, 1945, Alice was united in marriage to Orie Lund at the First Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. They lived in Minneapolis and Franklin prior to moving to Hector in 1954. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Marcia and David. Alice and Orie had shared 54 years of marriage when Orie passed away on January 21, 2000. Alice continued to live in Hector until 2009 when she moved to the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.

Alice’s working career began in the Redwood Falls J. C. Penney store. She was employed for 25 years in the Hector High School as the secretary to the High School Principal, and retired in the mid-1980s. Orie and Alice always enjoyed traveling, and made many trips to Europe, Mexico, and Canada. They especially enjoyed their trips to visit relatives in Norway, and entertaining those relatives when they visited Minnesota. They were both members of the Willmar Car Club. Alice was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, and the Sons of Norway. She was a talented seamstress, and loved quilting. She dearly loved her family.

Early Saturday morning, December 9, 2017, Alice passed away at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, having reached the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 8 days. Blessed be her memory.

Alice is survived by her:

Daughter, Marcia Murphey and her husband Duane of Custer, South Dakota;

Son, David Lund and his wife Deborah of Duluth, Georgia;

Grandchildren: Ryan Murphey, Justin (Jennifer) Lund, and Josh Lund;

Great-Grandchildren, Sidni Murphey and Oscar Lund;

other relatives, and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orie, and granddaughter Heather Murphey.
