Arleen P. Nenow

Obituary

Arleen Pauline Nenow was born on August 7, 1924, in Bird Island, Minnesota, to Henry W. and Esther Cora (Kaegbein) Nenow.   Arleen was baptized as an infant on September 14, 1924, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Osceola Township, Hector, Minnesota and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 8, 1949, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector.  Arleen was raised on the farm until moving to Hector with her family. Arleen graduated from the Hector High School.

Arleen began her working career as a sales associate at Skogmo’s Department Store. She worked as the secretary and bookkeeper for Harold Witte at Witte Ford for 32 years until her retirement at age 82. A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arleen served as the church secretary, a Sunday School teacher, and was active with Circle.

Arleen enjoyed playing cards and belonged to a card group along with her dear friend Alice Lund. She also enjoyed her flower beds and gardening at her house in town. She went on a few fishing trips in her younger years with her sister and other relatives.

When Arleen needed help with her daily care she became a resident of the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center on January 23, 2008. She passed away there on Friday, January 26, 2018, having reached the age of 93 years, 5 months, 19 days. Blessed be her memory.

Arleen is survived by: Tammy Huls of Hector; Cousins, Dwayne and Barb Ninow, Roger and Debbie Ninow, Joyce and Don Hauck, and Curtis and Lisa Huls; Friends, Harold Witte, Donna Piehl, Roger and Carol Beckler, Roger Wiehr, Glen Kurth and Anika Grejtak of Minneapolis.

Arleen is preceded in death by: Parents, Henry and Esther Nenow; Sister, Adelaide Nenow; Cousin, Rick Huls.
