Service Information
Arlene M. Schumacher, age 92, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Ecumen Oaks in Hutchinson.
Memorial Service will be Thursday, November 6, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Memorials preferred.
Obituary
Arlene Mae Schumacher was born on December 22, 1932, in Bongards, Benton Township, in Carver County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Emil and Lydia (Lange) Brueggemeier. Arlene was baptized as an infant on January 8, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church in Cologne, Minnesota, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, Minnesota. She received her education at St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Watertown.
On May 1, 1951, Arlene was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Schumacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Germany, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Steve, Jeff, Rebecca, and James. Arlene and Don resided in Watertown and Blue Earth, Minnesota and later made their home in Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 72 years of marriage until Don passed away on November 26, 2023.
Arlene loved being at home and raising the children. She was employed at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) in Hutchinson for ten years. Arlene was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Arlene enjoyed volunteering at church and the Hospital Auxiliary, and driving for Social Services. She especially enjoyed gardening and taking care of many flower beds. Arlene cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Arlene passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Ecumen Oaks in Hutchinson, at the age of 92 years.

Step-Great-grandchildren, Hunter Lemke and his wife, Grace, Keegan Lemke, Lydia Lemke;
Sister, Diane Swanson and her husband, John of Annandale, MN;
Sisters-in-law, Audrey Brueggemeier of New Germany, MN,
Mary Sloan and her husband, Frank of Watertown, MN,
Betty Born of Waconia, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Arlene is preceded in death by her Parents, Emil and Lydia Brueggemeier; Husband, Donald Schumacher; Son, Steve Schumacher; Infants, Rebecca and James in-infancy; Brothers, Orville Brueggemeier, Roger Brueggemeier; Brother-in-law, Hilton Born; Nephews, David Born, Chad Brueggemeier.
