Arlene Rekstein, age 92, of Fairfax, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Mankato.
Memorial Service will be October 8, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax with interment in the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Cairo Township, rural Fairfax.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.
Obituary
Arlene Margaret (Baumann) Rekstein was born on May 15, 1924, in Cairo Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Willhelmina (Wendinger) Baumann. Arlene was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her youth. She received her education in Fairfax and was a 1941 graduate of the Fairfax High School. She continued her education at the Minneapolis School of Business.
On November 28, 1946, Arlene was united in marriage to Laurence Rekstein at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. After their marriage, the couple resided in Fairfax. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Arlene and Laurence were blessed with four children and 14 grandchildren. They shared 57 years of marriage before Laurence passed away on April 23, 2004.
Arlene was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and Senior Citizens Group in Fairfax.
Arlene enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and she loved to travel; especially to Colorado to visit her daughters. She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Arlene passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Mankato and the age of 92 years. Blessed be her memory.

Children, Laurence (Rex) Rekstein and his wife, Mary of Lake Crystal, MN,
Mary Kay Lee and her husband, Dan of Denver, CO,
Tom Rekstein and his wife, Karen of Mankato, MN, and
Sharon Jurenka and her husband, Robert of Denver, CO;
14 Grandchildren;
Sister, Maura Halverson of Sleepy Eye, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Willhelmina Baumann; Husband, Laurence Rekstein; and Brothers, Linus Baumann and Joseph Baumann.
