Obituary

Audrey Ann Mayer was born on February 17, 1932, on a farm near Stewart, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter and Madie (Thelen) Krebsbach. Audrey was baptized and later confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart. Audrey attended St. Boniface Catholic School through the 8th grade and then as the oldest of 10 children was needed at home. Later in life she went on to obtain her GED, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.

Audrey worked various restaurant related jobs while raising her seven children. She enjoyed cooking and was a very good at it. In 1967, she gained employment at Caterpillar Tractor Company. While at Caterpillar she became the first woman supervisor of in-plant construction. She retired in 1991 after 24 years of employment. Retirement did not slow her down, she purchased a restaurant, Hansel and Gretel in Geneva, Illinois. In the mid 1990’s she moved to Titusville, Florida to care for her parents. While living in Florida she was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, and loved volunteering at the church thrift store. She remained in Florida until Fall of 2024 then relocated to Hutchinson, Minnesota. During her short time in Hutchinson, she attended St Anastasia Catholic Church.

Audrey enjoyed anything outside, mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, taking care of the many fruit trees on her yard, feeding, and watching the birds. She bought and learned to play a double keyboard organ. She loved and was very proud of her family, she looked forward to visits from children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Until recently she continued to send birthday cards to all of her very large family.

You will be missed dear. You did so much for women. You went right through the glass sealing and kept on going, never looking back. God will take care of her and she will always be in our hearts!
