Service Information

Bernard “Bernie” Zejdlik, age 80, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment in the St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. (two hours prior) at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel.

Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Obituary

Bernard “Bernie” Joseph Zejdlik was born on January 28, 1937, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of John and Evelyn (Rotzien) Zejdlik. Bernie was baptized as an infant on March 7, 1937, and was later confirmed in his faith. He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1955.

Bernie entered active military service in the United States Navy on December 9, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 30, 1957, at U.S. Naval Station in Newport, Rhode Island, and achieved the rank of FN.

On October 19, 1957, Bernie was united in marriage to Audrey Mallak at the St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. Bernie and Audrey resided in the Silver Lake area briefly prior to moving to Hutchinson, where they resided until their passing. They shared 41 years of marriage together until Audrey passed away on March 30, 1999.

Bernie held various jobs until his employment with Sorenson Rental and Sales in Hutchinson for 33 years. Bernie truly loved his job at Sorenson Rental and Sales and was so proud of working there. Bernie was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 96 in Hutchinson.

Bernie enjoyed gardening, fishing, collecting guns, music and dancing, traveling and road trips, going to casinos and playing cards. He also enjoyed being a baseball spectator, watching the television, shopping thrift stores and garage sales, going out to eat, and putzing around at home. He especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family friends.

When Bernie needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident at Harmony River Living Center on December 23, 2017. He passed away there on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the age of 80 years. Blessed be his memory.

                              Dennis and Linda Ruzicka of Hutchinson, MN,
                              Larry Sorenson of Hutchinson, MN;
Many other close relatives and friends.

Bernie is preceded in death by his Parents, John and Evelyn Zejdlik; Wife, Audrey Zejdlik; Brothers, Donald Zejdlik and Floyd Zejdlik; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Dominic and Lucy Mallak; Brothers-In-Law, Marvin Fiecke, Gary Heuer, and Roger Mallak; Nephew, Rich Mallak; Other relatives and friends.

    Memorial given from Fiecke Family to the Heart Association in Memory of Bernie Zedjlik.
