Bernice Hahn

Obituary

Bernice Marie Hahn was born on December 6, 1924, in Round Grove Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Paul and Bertha (Ehrenberg) Roepke. Bernice was baptized as an infant on December 21, 1924, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Fernando, rural Stewart, and was later confirmed as a youth on June 11, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton by Reverend Gerhard Schmidt. She received her education in Brownton and was a graduate of the Brownton High School Class of 1942.

On May 28, 1944, Bernice was united in marriage to LeRoy Hahn at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. After their marriage the couple resided in Gaylord for 33 years and then retired on Clear Lake near Glen, Minnesota, for over 20 years. In 1998, she moved back to Gaylord. This marriage was blessed with three children. Bernice was employed as a bookkeeper for the Aitkin Hospital, Gaylord Hospital, Paul Luedtke Insurance, Botsford Lumber and Busch Brothers. Bernice and LeRoy shared 51 years of marriage before LeRoy passed away March 28, 1995.

Bernice was a member of American Lutheran Church in Gaylord, WELCA, Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. She was a past member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Malmo, Minnesota, and also Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord           .

Bernice enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crafting, quilting, crocheting, reading, dog sitting, woodworking, dancing to polka music, feeding sunfish off the dock, crossword puzzles, feeding the birds, walking on the treadmill and wintering in Arizona. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bernice passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 93 years. Blessed be her memory.

Brother-In-Law, Virgil Heimkes and his wife, JoAnne of Brownton, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her Parents, Paul and Bertha Roepke; Step Mother, Lillian Schrupp; Husband, LeRoy Hahn; Daughter, Mary Thomssen; Brother, Loren and Gladys Roepke; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Edwin C. and Hertha Hahn; Brother-In- Law, Vernon Hahn.
