Betty Jane Wenlund, age 84, of Glencoe, formerly of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America, with interment at a later date in Grove Lake Cemetery in Pope County, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, 10:00-11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Obituary
Betty Jane Wenlund was born on August 10, 1938, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Arthur and Adeline (Ogitzak) Lindstrom. Betty was baptized as an infant on September 18, 1938, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Stockholm Lutheran Church in Cokato, Minnesota. Betty received her education in Cokato, Minnesota, and graduated from the Cokato High School in 1956 as the Valedictorian of her class.
On June 21, 1957, Betty was united in marriage to Gene Wenlund at the Stockholm Lutheran Church in rural Cokato, Minnesota. In 1973, the couple made their home in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Geri and Greg. Betty and Gene shared 39 years of marriage until Gene passed away on February 1, 1997.
Betty was employed as a news writer at the Plainview News in Plainview, Minnesota. Betty was a member of the Church in the Maples in Norwood Young America and was an active part of their ladies’ guild for many years.
Betty enjoyed spending time at her cabin, traveling, and going on bus trips to different destinations around the country. She enjoyed going to concerts, bowling, and crafting. Betty was a Girl Scout Leader for 6 years. Betty truly cherished the time she spent with her family and her friends.
Betty passed away on June 22, 2023, at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years. Blessed be her memory.

Sisters-in-law, Darleen Lindstrom, and Marilyn Wenlund;
Beloved Cat, Cissy;
Other relatives and many friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Wenlund; Parents, Arthur and Adeline Lindstrom; Father-In-Law & Mother-In-Law, Einar and Anna Wenlund; Brother, Jim Lindstrom; Brothers-in-law, Russell Wenlund, and Dale Wenlund.
